4 Days For Foodies in Canterbury
Day 1 | Arrive & sip champagne in the open-air cabana
Arrive to Dancing on Moonlight to champagne and delicious platter - overflowing with local Canterbury delicacies. A working horse stud farm, with its own private golf course, orchard and luxury lodge - Sam and the team will make sure you feel immediately at home.
Arriving to your very own Hampton inspired haven
Just 15 minutes’ drive from Christchurch's International Airport, a long-gated driveway welcomes you to the ultimate private sanctuary. Dancing on Moonlight could not be better positioned for a Short Break whether you are travelling from elsewhere in New Zealand, Australia or even further afield with direct flights from LA. We sort all your transfers so that you can maximise your time away. You don't have to lift a finger... so you can raise a glass instead.
Escape the ordinary and really catch up
Unlike a hotel stay a private villa will let you escape and really catch up with family and friends in the privacy of a true home from home. After a relaxing afternoon and a good catch up, head out to Christchurch’s Chillingworth Road where the 5-course tasting menu (all sourced locally) will have you hooked on Canterbury’s cuisine.
Day 2 | Rise & shine with garden views
Wake up in one of the three sumptuous bedroom suites. Enjoy a coffee in bed as you watch the sun rise over the stunning gardens. Roll out of bed and start the morning feeling relaxed, refreshed and ready to seize the day. Start the day with a tour of the farm with Estate Manager Sam – explore the private golf-course, meet the horses and snack on blueberries and walnuts as you wander through the orchard.
An afternoon for foodies
That afternoon head out to Te Mania’s Saloon at the farm just up the road. Get up close with some of New Zealand’s finest Angus Bulls and pick up something to enjoy on the barbecue that evening. Enjoy farm to table dining and barbecue up your own Canterbury fayre or why not get a private chef to do it for you?
Day 3 | Taste the Canterbury Region from Mountains to the Sea
Rise and shine ready for a big day out with Christchurch helicopters. Lift off over the green patchwork of the Canterbury Plains. With the wine country ahead and the Southern Alps on your tail, head towards the sparkling east coast and start you adventure spying on the sunbathing seals from the air. Following the shoreline you will head out to sea to look out for the blow holes and scout the migrating whales from above.
Picnic in a postcard
After a short break hop back on board with an array of freshly prepared local delicacies like crayfish, whitebait, mussels and prawns, experiencing Kaikoura’s indigenous meaning ‘Food from the Sea’. Flying west, soar to the Seaward Kaikoura Range and touch down at the exquisite Lake Sumner to enjoy a traditional picnic and relish the seafood delights, complimented by a selection of delicious New Zealand wine and beer.
Cheers to your final night
Feeling full of delicious food and in awe of nature, it’s time to head down from the peaks. Tantalise your taste buds at the famous Pyramid Valley Vineyard to savour some of their most spectacular wines. Pick up a bottle or two to enjoy in the gardens of Dancing on Moonlight on your final evening - savouring the flavours and the days gone by.

Spice Up Your Break
Not enough spice? Spice up your break with a helicopter up with some private heli-fishing, heli-hunting or perhaps a glacier landing on Mount Cook – New Zealand’s higher peak. Spend the day with your friends and family getting out of this world, guided by your pilot from Christchurch Helicopters. Going far beyond the usual luxury service, the pilots from Christchurch Helicopters are kiwis local to the Canterbury region and passionate about introducing you to their big back yard.
Sail from a snow landing down to a beach
If hunting and fishing are your passion let the team take you to places very few have ever trodden before – embrace the untouched landscape of the Canterbury back country as the beauty of the landscape hits you in waves. After some mountain exploration and a glacier landing let the pilots swoop you down to the coast where you can enjoy authentic New Zealand seafood right on the waters’ edge.
