Please note the itinerary below is a sample based on race days - it has been designed for between March 5th - 14th.
Day 1 | Arrive at McCallum Residence
Arrive at McCallum Residence, only a 30 minute drive from Auckland, a lovingly restored homestead with a Scottish heritage on the Clevedon Coastline. Welcomed by your private butler, sip a glass of champagne from your own private beach and simply sit back, relax and prepare for adventure, sailing, racing and flavours of New Zealand.
Day 2 | Tastes of New Zealand
Today is all about discovering the delicacies and local characters of the more remote parts of east Auckland. Over the course of the day you will forage for some local goodies - from honey to oysters, explore the local bays and pick up the freshest produce on offer.
Experience your first day of racing action. You will be collected by either Steinlager2 of Lion NZ (former “Whitbread Around the World” ocean boats, once skippered by Sir Peter Blake) from your private beach to sail along the coast and prepare for an afternoon of racing.
Finish your day by returning home to McCallum Residence for a chef prepared meal using all the delicious and fresh produce you collected earlier in the day.
Day 3 | Jump on Board
Once you’ve finished breakfast at McCallum Residence, it’s time to pack your bags and head out onto the front lawn. Sitting in the bay will be either Steinlager2 or Lion NZ.
Explore the Hauraki Gulf with your warm and friendly crew who take each person's level of sailing from complete beginner to the most experienced of sailors and tailor your experience around your skill level ensuring that everyone can enjoy a truly CAPTIVATING day!
Spend the evening with a delicious beach BBQ before spending a night on board.
Day 4 | Explore Hawkes Bay
Taking some time away from the hustle and bustle that will be central Auckland, Hawkes Bay is the perfect spot to experience some of New Zealand’s best food and wine.
After a domestic flight from Auckland to Napier Airport, be transferred by road for 45 minutes to The Farm at Cape Kidnappers.
Enjoy lunch at The Farm at Cape Kidnappers before an afternoon at leisure. There is plenty to do at The Farm at Cape Kidnappers - simply relaxing with a good book, enjoy a massage, or head out on the farm for a walk or a bike ride, partake in the Kiwi Discovery Tour or a Canam Tour of the farm. The evening will be spent dining at The Farm at Cape Kidnappers to enjoy the local cuisine and wine.
Day 5 | Hawkes Bay Wine Tour
After a refreshing breakfast at The Farm at Cape Kidnappers, the Group will enjoy a day experiencing local vineyards.
Lunch at Craggy Range vineyard is a must, before then visiting some of the local vineyards, including Te Mata (beautiful rich syrah and chardonnay) and Church Road.
The evening will be spent dining at the Farm at Cape Kidnappers. The following morning (10th March), you will fly back to Auckland ready for the Cup action that afternoon.
Day 6 | A Day at leisure
Returning to Auckland and settle into your new accommodation So Sofitel - a luxurious harbor side hotel that has everything you could want and more.
In the afternoon, you will enjoy a day at leisure. Meander along the buzzing streets, explore the boutique stores, enjoy a glass of wine at the harbour side or take to the beach for a day of relaxation - the choice is yours!
Day 7 | Set sail to Waiheke Island
Board a historic round the world racing yacht (steinlager2 or Lion NZ) from the New Zealand Sailing Trust and set sail for the paradise Island of Waiheke across the Waitemata Harbour. Roll up your sleeves and join the crew, or sit back, relax and let the buzz of Auckland float into the distance.
Once back on terra firma, explore the wineries and flavours of Waiheke Island, sampling the local produce before indulging in a gourmet BBQ at Man O'War Bay.
Enjoy dinner on board the boat where your chef will serve up some of the freshly gathered produce you sampled earlier in the day. A delicious end to a flavourful day!
Day 8 | Cultural Discovery
Enjoy a morning of cultural immersion with a Maori Chief as your own private guide on this walking tour of the heart of Auckland. Meander along the water front and learn about historic places of significance . For lunch, you will head to the Auckland Fish Markets to indulge in some world beating fish and chips and a gelato.
At 2pm you will head to the dock to board the boat for another afternoon of action packed racing (refer to page 9 for more information on racing days).
The evening will be spent at one of Auckland’s top restaurants beside the harbour soaking up the vibe.
Day 9 | West Coast Long Brunch
The West Coast of Auckland is a hidden gem renown for it’s rugged black sand surf beaches and rainforests of the Waitakere Ranges.
After exploring one of the beaches and getting some fresh air with a walk (or the more adventurous may enjoy blow karting along the beach), you will enjoy a ‘progressive long brunch’ at two wineries and a brewery enjoying both the wine, beer and food on offer before heading back into the city.
You will then head out for your final day of watching the America’s Cup.
Your evening will be spent celebrating the racing, adventure and flavours of the days gone by. Enjoy a VIP evening at a local yacht club and finish your getaway in style!
Day 10 | Depart
Today you will be transferred by private vehicle to the airport to check in for your departing flights homewards.
